Introduction

For the first time ever in Dubai, UAE and the Middle East, The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM), invites you to participate in the UIPM Biathle World Championship 30th of October 2010( UIPM registered athletes only). The event is With RUNNING and SWIMMING forming the basis for any type of exercise and sport, the race begins with a pack start of runners who complete one-half of the total running distance before entering a 50 meter transition area. Athletes then dive into the water and swim the required swimming distance before exiting the water, putting on their shoes and running the second leg of the run to the finish line.

Through BIATHLE, the UIPM has established a competition format comprised of the fundamental components of the sport of Modern Pentathlon, and a combination of two of the most practiced sports in the world, RUNNING and SWIMMING. Biathle is becoming one of the fastest growing sports in the world and has already staged events in Monaco, South Africa, Germany, Italy and Great Britain. The average number of participants, aged 6 to 60, at a World Championships is over 500 athletes and they come from all over the world with some 50 countries having sent representatives to the World Championships.

The UIPM is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the world governing body for the sport of Modern Pentathlon and organized under the laws of Monaco, with its headquarters located in the Principality of Monaco. HSH Prince Albert of Monaco, who is a competitor in the sport of Modern Pentathlon, serves as the Honorary President of the UIPM. The UIPM is represented by Mr. Mihail Kouzev, UIPM Middle East Development Officer, who is based in Dubai and will be managing the organization of this event with Mr. Warren van der Merwe, General Manager of Super Sports Event Management Services, a Dubai based company specializing in local sporting events, will assist in organizing and promoting the event on behalf of the UIPM.
